Health and Safety Comes First

Your child's health, well-being, and safety are the top priorities of Adventure Academy Pre-School and Child Development Center. We follow our policies to the fullest and expect you to do the same. This is to ensure that your child receives the best care possible.

Our staff must be certified in CPR and they receive health and safety training which in includes a 12-hour in-service training every year.

If you need us to care for your child at the last minute, as long as we have room and your child's medical records are up-to-date, we can accommodate you.

  • All children are expected to attend daycare by or before 10:30 am.
  • We will only accept children past 10:30 am if arranged with the director by 9:00 am the day of. We normally send staff home if we are low on kids, if your child has not arrived at the center by 10:30 am we will assume they will not be here. If you have appointments or your work schedule requires your child to arrive past 10:30 am, please communicate that with the director so that we can plan accordingly. Please call the center by 9 am if your child will not be attending, this also helps with staffing and maintaining ratio.
  • Please no food from home, the only exception is if your child attends between 6:30 am and 7:30 am since we don’t serve breakfast until 9:00 am.
  • Also. Please remember, we do not allow toys from home into the center. Adventure Academy can not be held responsible for lost or broken toys. A small stuffed animal will be allowed for use at nap and stored in your child’s cubby throughout the day.
  • School-age children are required to bring a sack lunch on unexpected non-school days, such as snow days or when LPS adds days off that are not on the school calendar. The center will provide lunch on regular planned non-school days.
  • Children MUST be picked up from the center NO LATER than 6:00 pm. We are not licensed to have children in the center past 6:00 pm. Late fee begins at 6:01 pm and will be $5 per minute per child, a fee will be due the following day at drop-off, or your child will not be able to attend. Please plan accordingly, our protocol is to call the non-emergency number once a child has been here 20 min. late. Excessive tardiness will result in the loss of childcare.

Pick-up Policy

Your child will never be released to anyone unauthorized to pick him/her up from the center. If you have someone else picking up your child from our facility, you must let us know! Either call ahead or let us know when you drop your child off.

Anyone who is authorized to pick up your child must be prepared to show a valid photo ID each time they pick up your child. Absolutely no exceptions!

Illness Policy

It's important to make sure your child isn't sick him/her to school. This is both for your child's protection and the other children and staff in the building. Please keep your child at home if he/she has any of the following symptoms:

  • Vomiting within the last 24 hours
  • Three loose stools within the last 24 hours
  • Drainage or redness of the eye
  • Unexplained rash or chickenpox

Illness or Minor Injury at The Center

We are not staffed or licensed to care for sick children. If your child becomes ill while here, he/she will be isolated from the other children under the supervision of a staff member until child is picked up.

We use discretion when calling you if your child appears ill. If a parent cannot be reached and/or cannot pick up the child within one hour, a designated emergency contact will be called. If your child is sent home with a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting, he/she may not return to our care for 24 hours from the last occurrence.

If your child receives a minor injury while in our care, the wound will be thoroughly washed and bandaged, or an ice pack will be applied. An accident report will be filled out by the teacher at the time of the incident.

We always have staff on duty who are certified in infant and adult CPR, and first aid.

Medication Administration

We'll administer prescription medicines only after an authorization form is signed by you. Medications must be in their original labeled container and must have your child's name, physician's name, name of the medication, and the dosage on the label.

Over-the-counter medicines or any medicine labeled as "under 2 consult a physician" requires a note from the physician before we can administer the medication. A permission form must be filled out each day your child is to be given medications.

Upon entrance into the program, an emergency release form must be filled out. This allows us to seek treatment for your child in the event of an accident or illness if you cannot be reached.

Please make sure this form is updated annually and let us know immediately if any information on this form is incorrect or has changed. This is the only way we can contact you in case of an emergency or illness.
